The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR) in Danville, Virginia will be transporting its STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math Mobile Learning Lab - STEM ML2) to Virginia Tech on Saturday, February 26 to participate in the 2011 Kids’ Tech University. The goal of the GReEn Jobs (Gearing-up for Renewable Energy Jobs) project is to provide professional development opportunities to teachers and hands-on activities for K-12 students that increase their knowledge and understanding of clean energy and the emerging green economy. The unit will include photovoltaic cells, a wind turbine, a human power generator, the House of Pressure, and a vegetable oil processing unit (reclaimed fuel will power the truck that pulls the STEM lab. The hands-on lab activities that connect to the demonstration technologies will reinforce STEM concepts.
