Registration for the Virginia Tech KTU program opens tonight at 6 pm!
Kids' Tech University is a program at Virginia Tech with one primary goal: creating the future workforce in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by sparking kids' interest in these fields.
Kids ages 9-12 are eligible to attend. Program does require parent/guardian involvement!

This Saturday!- Hokie BugFest
The
fifth annual Hokie BugFest will be held on October 17 from 10:00 a.m.
to 5:00 p.m. at the Inn at Virginia Tech (Latham Ballroom). This free festival
features a live Bug Zoo, a haunted Bug House, luminescent bugs, games, crafts,
and eye-catching exhibits. Bug enthusiasts can admire a giant bird-eater
tarantula, try on a beekeeper’s suit, observe a live silkworm exhibit, and
learn all about bed bugs. This is a fun and educational event for the entire

VT Geosciences Museum Public Event: Paleo Unpack!
Wednesday
August 26, 2015 5:00-7:30pm
Volunteers needed to help unload and unpack fossil
samples collected by VT paleontologists working in the field this past summer.
You may be handling parts of a new discovery!
Dr. Sterling Nesbitt and Dr. Michelle Stocker will
give a presentation on their fieldwork and a brief training at the beginning of
the work session, starting at 5:20.
Students from the Paleo Research Group will be on
hand to assist volunteers with proper techniques. Kids should be over 7 and
accompanied by an adult.
These are REAL FOSSILS from Africa and Arizona!
Meet in the Museum of Geosciences, 2062 Derring
Hall
No parking permit required after 5pm. Please be
aware that construction around Derring has pushed parking further away. There
ARE Handicapped spaces adjacent to the building

Tau Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and the Roanoke Chapter of
the Links, Incorporated would like to invite you to participate in our 2015
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Summer Program. This
science-filled day will expose your child to a variety of fields including
geology, entomology, and biology by incorporating hand-on activities and
interactive discussions! This free event includes lunch and aims to instill an
interest and possible career aspiration of its participants in the biomedical
sciences fields.
