Volunteer EMT needed

Hello all,

KTU is in need of a volunteer EMT for the day long events (9 am to 3 pm on Jan. 31, Feb. 28, March 28 and April 18, 2009). If you happen to know of someone (or you are personally willing to volunteer) who qualifies please pass on this need and have them contact me (Kristy DiVittorio at kdivitto@vbi.vt.edu, 540-231-1389) if they are interesting in volunteering.

Tentative schedule of events

For the first lecture on Jan. 31, 2009 here is the tentative schedule of events:  

9:30-10 am - Parents drop-off student at auditorium
10-10:15 am - Welcome*
10:15-11:15 am - Lecture*- "Why are there animals with spotted bodies and striped tails, but no animal with a striped body and a spotted tail?" by Dr. Keith Devlin
11:15-11:45 am -  Questions with lecturer (and student lunch pick-up)
11:45-12:15 pm - Parents pick up student at auditorium
12:15-1:15 pm - Break for lunch
1:15-1:30 pm - Parents drop-off child at hands-on activity
1:30-3 pm- Student at hands-on activities*
3 pm- Parents pick up student 

The times where there is a (*) indicate that parents are welcome to attend these events too! For the lecture, we will have the lecture audiovisual fed out to other classrooms on campus so that the parents may stay and watch too!

Overwhelming response!

Hello all,

Well, registration opened for KTU at 11 am on Dec. 1. and by noon we had 65 enrolled children. This is really exciting!! We have had such an overwhelming response for the program that we had to close the program early; with a waiting list for interested parents.
